WHITE PAPER: A Cost-Benefit Analysis of the IBM Computing on Demand Cloud Offering

How is Compute on Demand Different?

Performance

  • Compute on Demand does not share compute assets across multiple clients
  • The full benefit of the processing prower is utilized by the client
  • Some providers will "divide" the available system assets into 32 different instances

Security

  • Provides a highly secure environment to protect clients data
  • No two clients will ever be on the same compute system
  • Provides VLAN separation between client on the core network switches utilizing Access Control Lists (ACL's)

Data Retention

  • When additional storage is requested, the client data will be retained for the duration of the agreement. It will not "disappear" after each run.

Bandwidth

  • There is no additional charge for data transfers in and out of the environment
