Champion Solutions Group recently hosted a webinar featuring our newest cloud offering, Champion Desktop Cloud. Below are a selection of some frequently asked questions along with their answers. We hope you find them informative:
Q: How do local printers and network printers work with your solution?
A: Both will work with our solution just like physical desktops.
Q: Is run in a dedicated or multi-tenant environment in the cloud?
A: The Desktone Cloud is run in a multi-tenanted mgmt and networking infrastructure, however each customer ‘s desktops run on a dedicated hypervisor server to comply with Microsoft licensing requirements.
Q: Is this a public cloud, or is this a secure private cloud? I am concerned about security.
A: Champion Desktop Cloud is a public cloud that can optionally use point to point VPN to create an isolated network for a customer which is only accessible from within their corporate network.
Q: Is the storage share by multi tenants?
A: Yes, VM Storage is shared across tenants though tenants can only use their storage portions.
Q: With Virtual Desktop, for corporate based applications where the data source is physically located in house, how is performance impacted? Our user community is using local workstations running and calling data also located under the same LAN.
A: Most of our customers do not experience any significant performance degradation. These are typically assessed during our Proof of Concept due to variability in corporate applications.
Q: What about 2 , 3, or 4 monitors?
A: We support up to 2 monitors per client device
Q: How much customization can be done to the desktops...for instance can I prevent a user from copying files from usb drives or local storage? Can we see the interface that we would customize the desktops from?
A: Customizations can be done both via Window’s own customization capabilities as well as by adjusting the protocol’s security settings to allow or disallow local drive, usb, printer, clipboard, or com port access.
